3/31/2024 0 Comments Sims 4 first person fovOf the games I tried, the Borderlands games (some of my absolute favorites) were the worst increasing to 90 degrees, as the screen edges seemed "rushed" and I felt uncomfortable when turning on the X axis. In the case of the ones that did, while the increased field was noticeable, I didn't find it altered my playstyle in any substantial way. Well, tried several games (and certainly not every game I have that might support it. If you want a general guideline, try starting at 2× the viewing angle of your display setup. Ideally everything would use vertical FoV so that would be 74° on any display regardless of aspect ratio. I'd have to either experiment with it to figure out what type of FoV the game was using by comparing images in each aspect ratio, or judge which of those values was 'correct' by eye. With a 21:9 monitor, I would have to use either: 74°, 90°, 106° or 122° depending on how the game implemented FoV! So across different games, you might have to use different settings to get the same equivalent FoV. It's made more complicated by developers using different types of FoV (horizontal being the most common, vertical being more rare) and trying to "simplify" it by either ignoring aspect ratio, or automatically correcting for it but not changing the value. So the same value should generally look the same in most games - though it's never quite that easy. Click to shrink.FoV is the angle of view the game camera covers.
